The 1.91m American put pen to paper on Monday. Tony Harris, born 18 November 1970, played for Uberlandia, the Brazilian Champions, during the last season and was last years' MVP in the prestigious and highly competitive south American league FIBA Liga Sudamericana. Over the years he has played for CSSKA Moscow, Papagou Athens and Guaros in Venezuela. He also had a short spell with the Boston Celtics. Harris will replace Duane Woodward who was the FEL's leading scorer in the 2003-4 season. Michael Loizides, chairman of EKA AEL, explained to eka-ael.com that Woodward failed to sign a new contract with the Cyprus Champions. He was given a deadline that has already expired and we were not prepared to wait for ever, commented Mr Loizidis. EKA AEL have won back to back Championships in Cyprus. They are the 2003 FIBA Regional Challenge Champions and were the surprise package of the 2004 FIBA Europe League, progressing to the final 16. |
